FourKites extends into yard visibility with acquisition

FourKites acquires yard management products

FourKites is creating Dynamic Yard, a supply chain visibility product that
incorporates predictive estimated time of arrivals (ETA) and yard and warehouse
management tools. The company is acquiring the yard management solutions
business from TrackX Holdings to make Dynamic Yard possible.

FourKites has acquired TrackX’s
Yard Management, Dock Management and Gate Control solutions. These solutions
are highly scalable, serving the smallest facilities up to multiple enterprise
locations, the company said. The solutions are hardware-agnostic and integrate
seamlessly with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and warehouse management
systems (WMS), as well as RFID and IoT sensors.

Terms of the transaction were not
announced.

“Real-time in-transit data,
integrated with real-time yard data, will revolutionize how enterprises manage
warehouse and yard activities,” Mathew Elenjickal, FourKites CEO, said. “We are
thrilled to combine TrackX’s yard technology with our real-time visibility
platform to create Dynamic Yard.”

The new solution combines
FourKites’ real-time supply chain visibility platform, which features real-time logistics data and predictive ETAs.
FourKites said the new solution will combine the current data set with the
information from the yard management tools to connect warehouse and yard
operations to in-transit visibility for the first time. The result is that
facility managers can anticipate bottlenecks, accelerate gate-in and gate-out
processes, shorten on-site time for drivers and optimize inventory across
multiple sites, FourKites said.

“For the first time, yards and
distribution centers will have real-time access to live incoming truck arrival
information so that they can better plan and optimize their operations.”
Elenjickal said. “FourKites’ Dynamic Yard will forever change the industry by
bringing much-needed transparency and efficiency to shippers, carriers that
operate large trailer pools, and marine terminals, alike.”

TrackX’s yard management tools
offer carrier scheduling, yard jockey task and labor scheduling, dock door
productivity management, maintenance/wash bay monitoring, gate house control,
and overall yard visibility.

“Today’s announcement represents a
huge win for TrackX and FourKites customers,” Tim Harvie, president & CEO
of TrackX, said. “The ability to proactively manage facilities based on what’s
happening in real time on the road is the next logical step in extending
actionable supply chain visibility to large enterprise customers and driving
additional value within their yard environments.”
