Lawrence Kudlow, director of the Council of Economic Advisors, says that progress is being made in negotiations between the U.S. and China. Robert Lighthizer, the U.S. Trade Representative, and Steve Mnuchin, Treasury Secretary, are going to China next week for another round of talks and China’s Vice Premier, Liu He, will come to the U.S. the following week.
Senator Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, expects that the Section 301 and retaliatory tariffs that were imposed by the U.S. and by China will probably come off in stages, but will not be lifted in their entirety once an agreement is reached between the two countries.
